Signs of a Healthy Relationship

Of course, every relationship is unique, however these are some common aspects*. What do you think?

  • You and your partner are friends
  • You confide in one another
  • You have some shared interests or hobbies
  • You generally have similar attitudes toward life
  • Your goals for yourself, for each other and for the relationship are similar or compatible
  • You have agreed upon methods for solving problems between you - not necessarily the solutions, but the methods
  • When you get angry with each other, you deal with it directly (rather than hide it or try to hurt each other)
  • You share friendships
  • You go out together socially
  • You share responsibilities for earning money and household chores in a mutually agreed upon way
  • You make at least major decisions jointly
  • You allow each other time alone
  • You trust each other
  • The relationship is important enough for each of you to make some personal sacrifices for it when necessary
