5 Things to learn from your Cat about Intimacy

  1. Sometimes you want to snuggle while you sleep and sometimes you don’t want to be touched. It’s not personal.
  2. Communicate how you want to be touched. If you don’t like the way something feels, let the other know immediately and firmly. No need to bite or claw, just be firm.
  3. Sometimes you want your belly rubbed and sometimes it is an affront. Learn to read the situation. We don’t always want the same thing in every situation. Again, not personal.
  4. If your feelings are hurt and you hide under the bed, what’s needed is first to provide some time to sulk and then be lured out with effusive apologies and tasty snacks.
  5. When you need attention, start with small requests like a gentle meow and then escalate to whatever you need to do in order to get it, including leaping on the computer or doing the one thing you know drives the other crazy.

Love the part about effusive apologies and tasty snacks – works on me every time!

Funny how we can learn important lessons from everything around us if we just look closely and be open to it.
